Katelyn Smith

  • Jazz
  • Hip hop

I have studied dance for nine years locally at several different studios and have benefitted from the different emphases and techniques employed by each of them.

Summer of 2015 I attended the UNCSA Summer Intensive. During this time I learned many and diverse lessons from extraordinarily talented and well known choreographers.

I was a member of the Turrentine Middle School Dance Team from 2012-2015 and was team captain in eighth grade. Following Turrentine Middle School I was a member of the Walter Williams High School Dance Team from 2015-2019. I was captain my junior and senior years.

My dance career choices led me to substantial exposure to jazz, ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and competition. I have taken much joy from my Dance Team experiences and have gained leadership skills and satisfaction from helping and teaching others.

Having these crucial experiences early in my dance career has shaped me into the dancer I am today. Today, my goals are not only to show and teach my students beautiful movements but to teach them the impact that dance can have on their lives. Dance promotes passion, patience, perseverance, and creativity, and is instrumental in overcoming fears and building self-confidence.

I am thrilled by the prospect of sharing my knowledge and experience with the dancers of the next generation.
