Today was a sparkling day at First Pres. CDC. You will find out in the last paragraph where I got the idea for my title!
I started my day off by gathering my big girl dancers. "Zip your lips and hands on your hips" is the first thing I say as we walk up to my castle. I told the girls that they are setting an example for our younger girls so we have to stand up tall and walk in a straight line and prepare to shake our biscuits! The girls start off by releasing some energy to Bop Until You Drop. Next we catch a new friend up with toes and heels which meant we went on a picnic then planted some flowers. Next we put our dog bones in the backyard with our toes. I wound the girls up and we learned how to boogie. We practiced our burpees over and over. I put the girls in their place and Ava asked me "Miss Kim....peeessse let us do Shake Your Groove Thang"! Well, absolutely girls here we go. We danced the entire dance and the girls wanted to do it again but it was time for ballet. We danced with Miss Puffy and stretched our legs. We worked on first and second position. We reviewed plie' and tendu'. Miss Kim always says "no ugly bottoms"!!! Our time was up so we got the parachute and made it fly. We walked back down like big girl dancers and I told them how proud I was of them.
My boy's class came next. We had a new friend joining us today as well. He was a big brother like Landon and Brayden. I told him that I loved his name. We went and got our little brothers and headed for the space ship. After we landed on the moon we took a space walk. Once on Miss Kim's planet we took a nap. Next we heard our favorite song Bop Until You Drop. The boys love to do this since they can be as loud as they want and do the biggest moves they want. Then we worked on agility skills such a skipping (frying pan), jumping, jumping jacks, burpees (cheeseburger French fry), pushups, and stretching. We played a stretching game today that I call "see saw". I had two boys face each other and hold hands while sitting in a straddle position. They slowly pulled their friend down as far as they could go. I have some very flexible boys in this class and they love to show how far down they can put their nose. Daddy duck called and we had to go fishing and that silly alligator did not get us at all. We finished our class with the parachute. The big brothers got their little brother's hands and we boarded our spaceship for the return mission back to Earth.
My youngest girl's class was last. They were lined up ready to go. (thanks teachers) We rode the elevator up to Miss Kim's castle and they walked softly to the carpet. They also started off with Bop Until you Drop. I love how they say they are mermaids in the water when we have to go in "slow motion". We reviewed our tap steps such as toes and heels. We worked on boogie and burpee as well. We started our new dance Boogie Woogie Piggy which was so cute. We cooked popcorn in the frying pan and almost all the girls can skip which is an amazing task at this young age. Next was ballet time. We practiced first position and plie'. We learned how to walk like ballerinas. As we were doing Miss Puffy I could not stop looking at Maggie's shoes. I took a picture of them and want to use it as my feature picture on my blog. I asked Maggie if I could wear them and she giggled..."no Miss Kim you are too big"! It reminds me that these little girls love to dance....they wear their pretty dresses and put on their sparkling shoes. This class lets their imagination sore. Every class is their performance day it seems.....they make the most of it.....every time. This is such a big deal to them and I try to make it the best class it can be. Thanks Maggie for sitting beside me today and showing me your sparkling pink shoes....it makes Miss Kim want to put her sparkling pink shoes on everyday and realize even more how much I love doing what I do.
