First Presbyterian Moving With Miss Kim! Click Photo for Photo Gallery.
We have had a great start at First Presbyterian CDC! I started my day with the older tap and ballet girls. We put our hands on our hips and walk up to our new room. Our new room offers more space with fewer distractions. As the girls entered the room they start screaming and running to the carpet... I guess this was their way of saying they were glad to see me... how many bosses do that to their employees when they walk in the door? Again, I have the best job in the world! We did the hokey pokey as usual with the girls laughing and singing. They love it when we have to put our biscuit in and shake it all about. We practiced our toes, heels, and worked on toe backs. We got in our frying pan and popped popcorn. We had to rub butter on our toes (shuffles) before I would eat the popcorn. Miss Puffy flew in and we stretched our legs. Ballet time came next. We quiet down and I talk with a much softer voice. We opened our books and practiced first position. Next, I asked them how much they loved Miss Kim... they said "this much" with big opened arms. We then learned second position with their arms opened up. Plie' came next and we worked on our knees opening up. Daddy duck called and we had to go fishing. I loved watching the girls do arabesque' when we sang "over the hills and far away"... they are really proud of themselves when they do that. We ended our class with a beautiful ballet dance to Beauty and the Beast.
Next I gathered my boys. Something really special has happened this time with my boy's class. I decided to combine my older boys with my younger boys. I told my older boys that they were going to be "big brothers" to the younger boys. You should have seen these little boys transform into these responsible little young men... I am telling you they grew 6 inches inside. They took over... when we got the little boys they took two little boys each and told them they were their big brothers. My heart just melted. I was so proud of them. They gently walked them into our space ship (elevator) and we blasted off into outer space. When we landed on the moon we went to our Buzz Light-year room. We worked on stretching our muscles, learned jumping jacks, and worked on burpees (cheeseburger, French fry). I played "Jump Up" and we did all those movements to the song. We sailed on a pirate ship and went on our Bear Hunt. We went on a picnic and one sweet little boy told me he wanted "betchtables"! We Bopped Until We Dropped and stretched our legs to Miss Puffy. There were several little boys that were more flexible than some of my girls on my middle school dance team! AMAZING!!! We finished our class with the parachute and the boys insisted I play "Jump Up" again. I am just so happy about the way this class has turned out. They left the class with smiles on their faces and sweat running down their cheeks. You know I just had to let them sneak some water in before Mrs. Michaels saw us!
My little ballerinas came last. They were so ready for my class. We got into the elevator and rode up until we reached our castle. My little princesses walked into our castle and we danced to "If you're Happy and You Know It". They smiled so big and pointed to their faces to show me that they were happy. We went on a picnic and got the ants. We also planted flowers and dug holes. We got into the Barney Car and drove while we sang songs. We Bopped Until We Dropped and then got into the frying pan. Almost all the little girls can skip which show tremendous growth. We danced with Miss Puffy and worked on our ballet steps. The little girls just love to dance and have fun. They wanted to know why they had to leave. I told them that I had to pick up my little boy Walker... so the smart little girls they are then said... well just bring him next time!
See you next week!
