What a fun time we had today at First Pres. CDC. I was greeted with lots of smiles and "Hey Miss Kim's" which always makes me feel great......what other job does that?
My boys were so excited to see our new room which offers more space and fewer distractions such as the piano ad curtains that they could not keep their hands off of. They marched right to the carpet just like I asked and then we were off to doing all sorts of activities. Funny thing happened while we were just getting started. One of the little boys looked at me and said "Miss Kim, you are hot!" Well.....hmmm.....I thought to myself.....is he talking about how sweaty I am jumping, hopping, and trying to keep up with them or does he mean I am pretty? So, I asked him.....what do you mean? "You are hot Miss Kim." I then asked.....who did you hear the word "hot" from? And then this huge smile came across his face and he said "My Daddy". Well, my day was made at that very instance and that young man is forever my hero! The boys showed off their muscles doing burpy's which I told them to make show their mommy and daddy tonight. They learned how to do jumping jacks the correct way. The loved doing Miss Puffy and seeing if the water was hot or cold. This group really has a lot fun and when I told then it was time to go one handsome little fella said "Miss Kim I don't want to". I told them I would be back to make them tired next week.
Next my little two and three year olds were ready to move and shake. Lots of runny noses with this group but I had my Kleenex ready! They did so much better with listening today and I know it was because of the new room. They danced to "Head, shoulders, knees, and toes", "Mister Sun", "Hickory Dickory Dock", and "I'm a Little Teapot". They did the entire Miss Puffy which is a little stretching and listening skills activity. We are working on skipping and a couple of them almost have it. They finished with "Bop Till You Drop" and then the parachute. They gave me sweet hugs goodbye and we used our walking feet back to the classrooms.
Finally my dancing girls followed me up the stairs to our new room. Their eyes are wide open as we start the class. We added shuffle step today. I asked them to put on their Sunday shoes when they get home and try shuffle step on a wood floor or tile floor to hear the sound. We pretended to swing Miss Puffy on our feet to learn shuffles. We shook our biscuits (have you heard that term yet?) to "Mr. Sun" and practiced all of our tap steps. Something exciting happened in ballet.....the king started blowing the horns and wanted my dancers to dance for his princess's birthday party. My girls ballet walked and danced a beautiful ballet for the princess named Belle. We finished the day with the parachute. I put my little package of Kleenex and made a little joke. I told the girls we needed to make the package of Kleenex dance......so we put it in the middle of the parachute and started shaking it......we put a little boogie in it! They laughed and then it was time to go.
