Three classes today at Wee Care!

I started the day with my two and three year olds. When I walk in their classroom I do not have to say a word, they run right to me. I hear "Miss Tim, Miss Tim". Those are the best words you can hear. How many other workers hear their co-workers and boss say with smiles on their faces "Miss __, Miss___".....I am very blessed. We were a class of all girls today since our little fella friend was not there. We sang and danced to all of our favorite songs from the previous week. Repetition is key at this age. When we went on a picnic apples, bananas, and pizza were the favorites but then only sweet little girl said that she only eats candy! When we got in our frying pan this week I had a little girl tell me that she was not going to wash her hair when she gets home (that is what I tell them before I pour the ooey, gooey oil in their hair). I told her that was fine. We worked on our skipping skills. We opened up our books like the big girls do and learned first position. We jumped over the tree that fell down and sometimes had to crawl under it. The parachute brought many smiles in the end and we said goodbye in our parachute playhouse.

Next came by all boy class. I had two more boys to register which enabled me to form an all boy class. I can go to a higher activity level since boys love to unleash lots of energy. We boarded our pirate ship and you should have heard all the "arghhhs" from the ship. I even had some boys close one eye and lift one leg.....this sort of imagination is what I strive for. They did it before I could even ask for it.....I allowed their minds to work and they did not disappoint. This is a time where they can be who they want to be. We said away, found the island, dropped the anchor, swam from the sharks and alligators, and dug until we found the treasure. We then worked on our skipping, jumped over the trees like last week, and practiced our burpies.....cheeseburger, French fry! We also learned how to do a correct jumping jack.....this is really cute to watch these boys do this. We ended the day with the parachute and popped lots of bubbles. Great job today boys and I will promise to try and make you even more tired next week!

My older girls tap and ballet class came next. We started our day with Dora singing If You're Happy and you Know It....it has a great beat and we work on step together with claps. I have one little girl that is right on beat with Miss Kim.....I told her so....she should remember. We worked on toe taps (picnic), heel outs (digging holes in the garden), and learned a new tap step today....toe backs! Our doggies have to dig holes in the backyard and bury their bones. Our dogs today were Otis and another cute dog name...sorry I forgot! They did a great job with this new step. We worked on our special dance that we will showcase at the end of the 5 week session. We worked on first position and one little girl was able to tell me what it was which earned her a Miss Kim hug, Miss Kim twirl, and a Miss Kim dip! We learned tendu', releve; and then Daddy duck called and we had to go fishing. We practiced our jete's by jumping over the tree. We finished our day by dressing up in our parachute and going somewhere fabulous.

What a great day at Wee Care today!
