We had another great day Friends Playhouse.
My two and three year olds were eager to start moving and grooving. We did our normal favorite songs such as "If you're Happy and You Know It", "Wheels on the Bus", "Barney Car", and "Bob until You Drop". Today we went on a Bear Hunt....teddy bears of course. I was amazed at how well they listened. Sometimes the younger ones get scared off the bear hunt but not these kids! They walked down the roads, skipped through the wheat fields, climbed over the bridge, climbed to the top of a tree, rowed a boat across a river, and then crawled inside a cave. After the bear hunt Miss Puffy came to play and helped us stretch our legs. We then worked on some other motor skills with a ball. Everyone was able to catch the ball and throw and roll it back to me. Did I tell you that they did this while they were in a straddle position? The rules were that they had to keep their legs straight which meant we were stretching our legs a lot!
My next class was my older girls and one boy who joined us from the younger class. He was amazing and gave the girls a run for their money! We went over all of our tap steps then incorporated them into our new dance to "Shake Your Groove Thing" by the Chipmunks. They did such a great job they had teachers looking in on them smiling! We slowed things down a bit and went over some ballet terms. Then Daddy Duck called and we had to go fishing for him. Then a tree fell down and we had to jump over it and crawl under it. The children learned that in ballet the term for leaping or jumping is jete'. We tried really hard to keep our legs straight and toes pointed. We finished the class by turning into robots and walking around the room. We then got on our horses and galloped into our line. Lots and lots of activity today.
