Lots of Leaping! First Presbyterian Wed April 28th Click Photo for Photo Gallery
Today at First Presbyterian there were a lot of new moves being learned!
My two and three year olds did a great job of listening today. They pranced right over and got on the carpet. I even have little ones telling others to "stay on carpet". I am able to do more story telling and creative play now since their attention has grown so much. We have chased some ants now, dug some holes for our flowers, work on skipping, and stretched our legs with Miss Puffy. When Miss Puffy flies into our room the children all sit down and grab their ankles without me even saying a word! Our day is never complete without the parachute and popping bubbles.
My boys came in with all their energy as usual which is more than welcome in my class. I just wished I could figure out how to catch some of that instead of the colds I have been catching! We played our crab walk game again since everyone begged to do that. But then something happened....the wind started to blow.....we were in the forest with tons of trees....and then a tree fell down! The boys had to jump over the trees and then crawl under the trees. All boys demonstrated an impressive skill using just one leg instead of two feet. I tried my best to wear them out with all my energy draining songs. All they wanted to do was more!
My ladies were ready and waiting as always (thanks to great teachers!). We reviewed all of our tap steps and even cooked some popcorn. When ballet time came Daddy duck called and we had to go fishing. Then the same thing happened....the wind started to blow....we were in the forest with tons of trees.....and then a tree fell down! I explained how we were to jump over the tree. I told the girls that in ballet we call this jete'. The girls were amazing as you can see in the pictures. I had one girl demonstrate in the photos how to start and how to end a jete'. The girls practiced pointing their toes so strong and making their legs so straight. I also told the girls that they could have Mommy or Daddy be the tree. Did anyone have to lie on the floor this week?
