Bright Sun Shiny Day!

Today at Friends Playhouse it was full of sunshine inside and out. I started the day with my older tap and ballet girls. They were so ready to go. We started our day with "If you're Happy and you Know it" to get some energy out. We then reviewed our tap steps that we have learned so far....toe taps (picnic...ants), and heel outs (digging holes). We learned a new tap step today called toe backs. Our doggies took turns putting their bones in the back yard. We then started our dance that we plan on showing at our parent showcase called "Shake Your Groove Thing" by the Chipmunks. The girls loved it and sang right along. For ballet we reviewed our ballet steps such as "first position", " plie'","releve'", "bourre'", and "arabesque'". Daddy Duck called and we had to go fishing and avoid the silly alligator. Then something amazing happened.....the King called and asked us to dance for his princess named "Belle". We all got dressed up danced for the princess. It was her birthday party and she loves to ballet dance. We clapped like ladies and it was time to go.

My two and three year olds were next. They had been playing outside so I was a little worried they would be tired but not today! We danced to so many songs today such as "Barney Car", "Wheels on the Bus", "Bop until You Drop", and "Mister Sun". We turned into popcorn in Miss Kim's frying pan and worked on our skipping. We did a really fun activity that works on another gross motor skill. We have to jump over a tree (broomstick) but I could not find a tree anywhere! So we used a play vacuum cleaner hose.....they thought that was so funny. They had to crawl under it and jump over it. Some can even jump with two feet.....mighty impressive. We had so much fun today.
