First Day at Friends Playhouse!

First Day at Friends Playhouse! Click Photo for Photo Gallery.

I had a great start at Friends Playhouse today. Thanks to Amy and Deborah for bringing my program to your center. Thanks to Jean as well for showing me around and making me feel so welcome. It is always a good feeling to see smiling faces when you walk into a new facility and yours is top notch!

I started the day with my two and three year olds. They were not hesitant at all and went right with me. They held my hand tight as we went to our "Creative Movement Room". We made a circle and painted our rainbows. We then sang "If you're Happy and You Know It". We went on a picnic and I found out that macaroni is most every two and three years olds favorite food! We had to chase the ants away after our picnic. We "Bopped until We Dropped", drove the "Barney Car", rode the "Wheels on the Bus", and also found "Miss Puffy". We ended our day with the parachute. The children all took turns popping bubbles which they loved.

Next, my four and five year old tap and ballet girls were ready and waiting. They followed me to my classroom. One sweet little girl asked me "where are our tap and ballet shoes". I said that we were so special that we did not even need them. We just pretended to be wearing them. She smiled back at me and said "yeah, that's right!" We started dancing with "If you're Happy and You Know It". We went on a picnic and learned how to "toe tap". We dug holes in my flower garden.....girls....where is my shovel? We sang "Mister Sun" and shook our biscuits. We learned how to skip from sitting in Miss Kim's frying pan. I found out that someone's mom likes to make casseroles in her frying pan! We learned "first position" and "plie". Then, Daddy Duck called and we had to go fishing. Just like with most girls this age they are little sponges just waiting for the next word to come out of my mouth. They listen with such intensity. This makes me realize just how much this means to them and at that very moment they feel like a star. I want them all to walk about of my room feeling a little taller than when they entered. I think I accomplished that today.

See you next Monday!

Miss Kim
